AMSTAR 2 is an instrument (a 16-item checklist) used in assessing the methodological quality of systematic reviews or it can be used as a guide to performing a systematic review. AMSTAR 2 has been developed to appraise systematic reviews of both randomized and non-randomized studies The user answers YES, PARTIAL YES or NO to each assessment.   Two agreements are required during quality assessment ensuring lower risk of bias. AMSTAR has guidelines explaining each outlined item. An SR is considered well done when all the items on the checklist have been addressed.
